Breast Health Access for Women with Disabilities
Breast Health Access for Women with Disabilities (BHAWD) is a community partnership established in 1995. It is a nationally recognized model in leadership and collaboration for increasing health services and accessibility for women with disabilities. In order to advance its mission of increasing access, BHAWD continues to develop its priority areas that include: clinical services, educational training to medical providers, outreach and education to clients, public policy, and research.
BHAWD is a program of the Rehabilitation Department of Alta Bates Summit with a mission to increase access to breast health information, screenings, and early breast cancer detection for women with disabilities.
