Hospital-Based Rehabilitation Services
The Rehab Starting Point for Patients in Early Recovery
During the initial phase of rehabilitation, our therapists work together with case managers, social workers, acute care nursing staff, and family members to evaluate a patient’s current condition and determine subsequent levels of rehabilitation care. By giving patients the level of care they need and closely monitoring their progress, we help them get their lives back on track as quickly as possible.
While recovering from an illness or injury in the hospital, patients are eager to regain their self-care capabilities. As soon as they are medically able, patients at the Alta Bates and Summit campuses can receive:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
Whether in our cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurology, oncology, general medical, surgical, behavioral health, obstetrics, or critical care units, patients can participate in rehabilitation services.
Hospital-Based Rehabilitation
Our specialty areas include:
- Rehabilitation for the neurologically impaired patient
- Post orthopedic surgery rehabilitation
- Post cardiac surgery rehabilitation
- Swallowing evaluation and treatment
- Strengthening and conditioning for the medically compromised patient
- High-risk obstetrics
- Lymphedema treatment
At the initial phase of the rehab continuum, patients can easily transition between levels of care. Communication occurs between the hospital-based therapists and the therapists working in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Acute Rehab or Outpatient programs, to efficiently coordinate patient care.
